CPRC - What we do

  • Sponsor two annual meetings:
    • Spring meeting: mini-SETAC; 1 day; platform and poster presentations; invited and submitted speakers
    • Fall meeting: dinner-style; more informal; usually one invited speaker
  • Publish four newsletters per year
  • Benefits of membership include:
    • Networking with fellow scientists and regulators in region
    • Mentoring of young scientists
    • Opportunity to present research in annual meetings
    • Experience with Society management
    • Opportunity to influence the direction of Chapter activities
  • Corporate support for CPRC activities, including student support. Current contributors:
    • ExxonMobil Company
    • ARCADIS BBL
    • Menzie-Cura Associates
  • Sponsor annual student travel awards
  • Travel money directly to student to subsidize costs of attending the annual SETAC meeting; amount depends on location of meeting and number of applicants
  • Sponsor annual graduate student research/travel awards, two annual awards of $500 each

Benefits

There are three valuable benefits of this program.

First, increased visibility among your peers (and potential employers) just by being an applicant.
Second, the $500 goes directly to the student to be used at their discretion for their research.
And third, the experience writing grant proposals will help you hone your skills for successful proposal writing in your future careers.

Additional benefits of student membership

  • Reduced membership fee
  • Reduced registration fees at annual chapter conferences and meetings
  • Opportunity to present research at chapter symposia and conferences
  • Opportunity to interact with other students, as well as environmental professionals from government, academia, business and public sectors
  • Quarterly informative newsletter
  • Updated news and information on the chapter web site
  • Opportunity for several student-oriented awards
  • Networking opportunities (several students have met their future employers at CPRC meetings)
